MTBE Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether lawyers in Massachusetts

Toxic Mold Ma

MTBE, or methyl tertiary butyl ether, is a gasoline additive introduced in the 1990s.

Most people did not care about it until it contaminated drinking water. It is water soluble and as underground gasoline tanks developed leaks, MTBE quickly contaminated water supplies.

Rhode Island and Massachusetts have passed legislation banning or limiting the sale of MTBE.

MTBE may cause various kinds of illness with respiratory, neurological, cardiac, or allergic symptoms. Can also cause anxiety, dizziness, nausea, headaches, attention deficit disorder, or skin rash.

MTBE does not breakdown easily and is difficult and costly to remove from ground water.

PASCOAG RHODE ISLAND

At present litigation is ongoing. A meeting is scheduled on 1/14/08 before Judge Savage to arrive at a final trial schedule for the first of the trials, which will be the Water District case, against ExxonMobil. The site will be updated after the meeting.
